Creating a Fairer Scotland: Discussion and engagement event for Africans

Fairer Scotland Info-01

Fairer Scotland will be carrying out a discussion and engagement event for Africans at Wester Hailes Education Centre on Saturday 3 October 2015, 10.00am – 12.30pm.

Conversations that will influence Government policy and strategy for the next 15 years are taking place all over Scotland. By 2030, the Fairer Scotland Engagement aims to create a place where people are healthier, happier and treated with respect, and where opportunities, wealth and power are spread more equally.

We have noticed an absence of African led meetings and therefore hastily organised an event for Africans. We hope that you will come and share your views on the following:

  • What are the issues that matter most to people?
  • What do people think needs to be done?
  • How can people and their community play a role in helping to shape our future?

Programme

09:45:    Arrival
10:00:    Welcome and introduction
10:10     Discussion
12:30     Lunch & Networking

The Scottish Government says:

We believe that together we can do even more to secure better opportunities for all of us and for future generations. To get there, more of us need to join the conversation that is already happening about the kind of Scotland we want to see in the future. We want you to share your ideas as well, to tell us what matters to you.

By the end of 2015 we want to have created opportunities for the widest possible range of voices to be heard. This will include a series of events in the autumn that brings together people from across the country to discuss what practical steps we need to take to create a fairer Scotland. The Scottish Government will respond to these ideas, and the wider conversation, setting out what we will do to help create a better Scotland. We hope others will do the same.
