The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after two Staffordshire bull terriers were found in stairwells in Wester Hailes.

The Scottish SPCA were alerted when the first dog was discovered tied to railings at Clovenstone Park at 6.50am on Saturday (29 August 2015). A second dog was then found at 7.30am, roaming free in a stair at Calder Crescent.

The female dogs are now in the care of our Edinburgh and Lothians Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Balerno.

Inspector June Chalcroft said,

The black staffie found at Clovenstone Park is very friendly but seems scared in the kennel environment.

She was in the stairwell for around two and a half hours, which would have given her owner plenty of time to come back for her had she only been left temporarily.

The second dog, a black and white staffie, is also really timid and frightened.

It’s possible the dogs are linked, however, when they saw each other at our rescue centre they didn’t show any signs that they knew each other.

If anyone recognises either of these dogs and knows who owned them we would ask them to contact us on 03000 999 999.
