Good Conversations Matter

2015-09-01-13-48-12The Garden Kitchen Café in Wester Hailes was recently highlighted in an article by local GP Peter Cairns for Creating A Healthier Scotland. Offering tasty healthy meals made mainly from locally grown ingredients, the Garden Kitchen Café provides lunch once a week. This has been welcome for local residents but has also given staff from the Healthy Living Centre and other local services and organisations the chance to meet up over lunch, leading to more integrated working and greater partnership working. Good conversations over soup and a salad have led to stronger networks and innovative projects. You can read the full article here.

Creating A Healthier Scotland: What Matters To You is a national conversation organised by Scottish Government to discuss what a healthier Scotland should look like in the next 10-15 years and the steps that should be taken to achieve this. Over the next few months until Spring 2016, they will be consulting on improving the health of the population and the future of health and social care services in Scotland. Joining the conversation is easy: you can send a short video clip or picture, write a short report, blog post or email. All details are on their website.

The Garden Kitchen Café is open on Tuesdays 12pm-2pm at the Healthy Living Centre. For more information please contact Tracey Lee on 0131 453 9400.
