STV Edinburgh’s Ewen Cameron and Hayley Matthews paid a visit to the Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre today to join the staff in some festive carol singing and to present a cheque on behalf of the STV Children’s appeal.
The carol singing was well attended as many of the staff at the Healthy Living Centre popped along during their lunch break to join in with the festive fun along with local residents.
The cheque for £65,000 was presented by Ewen from the STV Children’s Appeal.
Building on significant community collaboration over recent years the funding will help to establish a new Wester Hailes Community Trust (WHCT). WHCT will help to put local people at the heart of decision making and delivering action to improve outcomes for Wester Hailes. One key function of WHCT will be to channel the funding provided by STV Children’s Appeal into projects that will support community led activity and increase community capacity. The project has the potential not only to deliver a lasting impact in Wester Hailes but to provide inspiration and learning for other communities in Scotland.
