The Sentinel newspaper and the West Edinburgh Times took a lot of photos of Wester Hailes over the 40 years it ran. When the West Edinburgh Times was forced to close down in 2008 the photos were saved by Prospect Community Housing and Wester Hailes library.
The photos saved by Prospect have been used for the very popular blog and Facebook page From There to Here, but now Edinburgh libraries have digitised some of the highlights from Wester Hailes library’s digital archive and added them to Capital Collections, their online image library.
Wester Hailes Library plans to hold an event where they’ll be inviting the community to come in and see if they can help put names to faces.
