Handwritten note warning of threats found at Edinburgh College

Police Scotland are investigating after a handwritten note reporting threats from an unnamed group of individuals against Edinburgh College’s Sighthill and Granton campuses, Napier University, Ocean Terminal and Currie Community High School over the next few weeks was found on a bathroom door of the Telford campus of Edinburgh college on Monday.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said:

Police in Edinburgh are investigating reports of a threatening communication found on a bathroom door in an education building in north Edinburgh on Monday.

Enquiries are at an early stage and police are working closely with partners to provide reassurance to the public.

Edinburgh College has contacted its students with the following message:

Dear students, you may have heard reports of a threatening message left on a bathroom door at Granton Campus.

Please be aware that the college is working closely with Police Scotland and officers have been to the campus today to investigate.

Their inquiries are at an early stage and they will return later today to continue the investigation.

The college is operating as normal and we will keep you updated on any further developments.

We understand that you may have concerns but please be assured that we are taking advice from experienced senior police officers and will act appropriately according to their guidance.
