WHALE Arts has announced that they will be running a new weekly textile group named “Make Do and Mend” on Tuesdays, 10.30am – 12.30pm at the WHALE Arts Centre.

The group will run for an initial period of 18 weeks and will be free to attend. The group is open to all adults over the age of 18.

The focus of the group is to learn knitting and sewing techniques in a friendly and inclusive environment. The group will have an eco focus, with some sessions focusing on how to mend or re-purpose household items (such as items of clothing), and where possible to using recycled or donated materials to create something new. The group will also identify and create items for the benefit of the community.

The group will be free of charge to attend, however participants will be responsible for:

  • Providing their own refreshments
  • Participating in group fundraising (for example: if the group decides to go on a field trip or if the group would like to buy another sewing machine)

There are limited spaces on the group so anyone interested must book in advance. For more information or to book your place contact Meghan on 0131 458 3267 or meghan@whalearts.co.uk.
