Small Sparks start flying

The Wester Hailes Community Trust held a busy open session on Saturday 16th July at Wester Hailes Library as part of the launch of the new Small Sparks Fund. People attending were able to find out more about the Trust, how to get involved and how to apply for a Small Sparks grant. They were also able to get help there and then to apply for up to £250 for activities that would benefit the Wester Hailes community.

Those who came along quickly got busy sharing their ideas and getting their applications in. The Community Trust is aiming for a quick turn around and hopes to make its first funding awards in the next couple of weeks. There was also the opportunity to sign up as members of the Community Trust. Being a member is free and means you can have a say in how the Trust is run and what activities it supports. You also need to be a member to apply for funding. The short membership form can be found here. To join as an individual member you need to be over the age of 16 and live in Wester Hailes.  There are other categories of membership so if you live outside the area, or you are part of an organisation that wants to join just email info@westerhailesct.org.uk or phone 0131 458 3267 for further details.

The Small Sparks Fund provides up to £250 for local people and community groups to help make a difference in Wester Hailes. You can apply by email, letter, video or completing the short application form that is available here. If you’ve got a bright idea that could make a difference, you could make it happen this summer!

You will find more information about the Wester Hailes Community Trust here.  You can also email info@westerhailesct.org.uk or phone 0131 458 3267.
