Nominations for the Community Council elections will be opening in the coming weeks making now an excellent time to get involved with the Wester Hailes Community Council.

Community councils are groups of people who care about their community and want to make their area a better place to live. They have an important role in local democracy. They represent the views of local people on Neighbourhood Partnerships.

The Wester Hailes Community Council has carried out a lot of great work in Wester Hailes in recent years and have been important in giving local people a voice. They are responsible for the opening of Harvesters Link, the underpass between the Healthy Living Centre and Westside Plaza. They also provide support and funding for key events in the area like the Fun Run and have been heavily involved in the Open Space event and Wester Hailes Community Trust.

Nominations start on 5 September and close on 26 September 2016. If an election is required it will be held on 27 October 2016.
