WHEC welcomes new Head Teacher

WHEC Wester Hailes Education Centre

Wester Hailes Education Centre pupils and staff have welcomed their new Principal David Young this week as they return to school.

David Young will be replacing former head teacher Sheila Paton who has accepted a job as Senior Manager of Schools with the City of Edinburgh and acting head teacher Lewis Patterson. As part of his arrival to the school Mr Young has released the following statement on the schools website.

My vision for Wester Hailes is to enable all young people to secure successful outcomes regardless of ability or background’

The atmosphere in the school is warm and welcoming with respectful relationships underpinning engaging and exciting learning experiences. Pupils are encouraged to achieve their potential at all times in order to ensure every young person leaves Wester Hailes, at their exit point, with a portfolio of qualifications, skills, experiences and a knowledge of the job market so that they can enter a sustained, positive destination of further/higher education, apprenticeship or employment.

The success of our school is built on the partnership of pupils, parents, staff and the wider community and we are very proud of our school and the community we serve.

With your help, we know that we are well-placed to offer our young people opportunities to realise their ambitions whilst also encouraging them to give something back.

I hope you enjoy browsing our website and keeping up-to-date with our Twitter feed for all our current news. If you require any further information or would like to arrange a visit to the school, please contact our school office on 0131 442 2201, to arrange this.
