On Saturday 10 September 2016, local church, Open Heavens Edinburgh (OHE) which is a part of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), kick-started its community initiative titled ‘The Harmony Project’.

The ethos of the project is to support and promote strong community ties through various volunteering activities. The inaugural event, the first of many to come, was tagged KEEP WESTER HAILES TIDY.

This involved volunteers and members of the church working in teams to pick up litter across various areas of Wester Hailes including Harvesters Way Road, Clovenstone Drive Road, Murray burn Park Road, Murray Green and the footpath from Clovenstone footbridge to Murray burn Park footbridge. At the end of the exercise, around twenty-six (26) bag of litters were filled and collected for disposal by the local council.

A number of other activities are planned for the future as part of The Harmony Project, all of which will focus on building a stronger Wester Hailes community.
