It was a full house yesterday, Tuesday 6 September 2016, with nearly 50 people gathering for the Prospect Community Housing Annual General meeting.

Those attending heard about some of Prospect’s recent achievements, including the shower and kitchen programmes, and the installation of over 100 new boilers. This significant investment has been achieved at the same time as limiting rent increases at inflation only. Alan Gee, Prospect’s Chair, also emphasised our commitment to remain community based, underscored by the high level of tenant representation on the Management Committee.

The meeting then held a minute’s silence in memory of Sam Martinez who had been a Prospect Management Committee member for 17 years and who passed away aged 106 on the 24 August 2016.

There was also a presentation about the new Wester Hailes Community Trust given by 3 of its Board members, Maureen Connolly, David Corcoran and Caroline Richards. With business concluded, the Members’ Raffle was as popular as ever, with plenty of prizes in the draw! Prospect decided to offer a crèche this year for anyone who needed childcare support. This worked well and they plan provide this again next year.

Prospect would like to encourage wide membership from all parts of the local community.

Prospect members have the opportunity to influence decisions and to help shape how we manage our homes and run the organisation. And being a member means you can attend and vote at our Annual General Meeting.

Membership only costs £1. If you would like to know more about joining, please contact them on 0131 458 5480 or enquiries@prospectch.org.uk.  You can also download the membership form here.
