The WHALE-Pod (founded in 2014) is a business incubator unit for new start creative businesses. In October of 2016 the Pod enters into a new 6 month phase of its development, until March 2017, with a view to increasing its use and long term sustainability.
For a fee of £10 a month the WHALE-Pod space will be open to use by several of those start-up businesses who have been developing their business ideas. The space is also available to use for anyone interested in arts, creativity and the idea of earning an income. It provides an opportunity to:
- mix with other like-minded individuals who have started on the journey towards enterprise and learn from their experience
- use the space for making things that are compatible with artists currently using the space (for sewing and craftwork currently)
- explore collaboration with the artists using the space
- have access to a range of craft market opportunities throughout the city only available as part of the WHALE Arts Centre
- benefit from a WHALE Arts address for a business space
- have access to your own locker in the WHALE-Pod room
- have discounted access to room hire 25% reduction on standard rate for WHALE Arts rooms
- receive advice and support from a helpful and understanding business adviser once a month
- be part of a vibrant, community-owned arts facility with a fantastic reputation and a network of contacts in the arts sector across Edinburgh.
