Police Scotland are appealing for information after a man was robbed while walking along the Union Canal towpath.

The man was walking under Cultins Road towards Hermiston Gait at around 6.50pm when he was approached by three teenage youths. The youths assaulted the man before stealing his wallet and running back towards the main road.

DC Kevin Walls from Corstorphine CID said:

Fortunately the man only suffered minor facial injuries but was extremely shaken by this unprovoked attack. The area would still have been busy with traffic on the A71 at this time of the evening and I want to speak to anyone who was walking or driving in the area and may have seen the group of youths.

The youths are all described as white males in their teens. Two were 5 foot 8 inches tall and the third was 6 foot tall. The first was wearing a beanie hat, a dark zipped top, grey jogging bottoms and dark trainers with white soles. The second was wearing a dark blue Umbro top, blue dirty or faded jeans and dark trainers. The third was wearing a dark hooded top, dark jogging bottoms and gloves.

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
