Harvesters Link Vandalised

Harvesters Link, the long fought for reopened underpass between the Healthy Living Centre and Westside Plaza has been vandalised.

The link which was officially opened a year ago on Tuesday 22 December 2015, after a long campaign by several community groups including the Wester Hailes Community Council and the Wester Hailes Health Agency. Vandals have broken two of the three decorative trees places along the route.

  1. This news of vandalism to the Harvesters link deeply saddens me. I know how hard the community strove to get the link and will always associate the success of the Wester Hailes community with John Aitchison who died recently.
    A community shows it’s unity and strength when it acts to help the sick and disabled. The approach to the Healthy Living Centre for the first 2 years after it was built was not fit for purpose and the creation of the ” Link” enormously enhanced the utility of the £10 million plus HLC. I hope the community ensures that who ever carried out this mindless damage are identified and that the vandals under go some sought of ” rehabilitation” as their stupid destructive behaviour in some way reflects on how the WH community functions.

  2. Absolutely disgraceful. A lot of time and money went into this, as usual it’s the minority that spoil it for the majority. Shame on those responsible for this damage
