WHALE Arts Agency has announced that they are looking to fill a freelance drama tutor vacancy to work with their resident drama group WHALE’s Without a Cause.

As a community-led arts charity and social enterprise, WHALE Arts’ mission is to be the creative heart of a vibrant, thriving community. Established by local people in 1992, WHALE Arts provides a specific, professionally-led programme of activities in Wester Hailes. Activities are free or low cost, reaching a diverse range of people including those who might not otherwise be able to access the arts.
We are looking for a creative and motivated freelance drama tutor to work with our ‘WHALEs Without a Cause’ drama group for adults from February-August 2017. The drama group is fully inclusive and all decisions about storytelling, from playwriting to marketing, are discussed by the group’s members. The group has received funding to create a new piece of work and deliver free performances to local people in August 2017.
The drama tutor will be responsible for running weekly drama workshops on Thursday evenings at the WHALE Arts Centre from 7-9pm. This role is ideally suited to someone with previous experience of producing community theatre. You will be creative with a good sense of humour, have excellent planning and organization skills. You will ensure the drama programme is delivered in-line with WHALE Arts’ ambitions and resources.
Payment: £25 per hour contact time. You will be registered as self-employed.
