Local Textile Group making story time fun

Local textile group Stitch N Time paid a visit to Wester Hailes library’s Bookbug group today to donate a fantastical selection of knitted fairy tale characters to make the next few sessions a bit more fun.

Stitch N Time which meets at the WHALE Arts Centre every Tuesday, has spent the last three weeks creating seven special fairy tale kits containing knitted characters and accessories for the Bookbug group. They include Humpty Dumpty, Mary had a Little Lamb and even a full Teddy Bears Picnic. The group is currently funded by WHALE’s Westburn CAN project.

The donation to the library’s Bookbug group is just the latest in a series of donations to the community. After finding out about Dads Rock and seeing the work they do Stitch ‘n’ Time, working with the West Edinburgh Timebank, created a Princess and the Pea display to help with story telling sessions. They have also worked with Clovenstone House, the Calders Community Garden and some of the childrens’ groups at WHALE.

The library’s Bookbug group meets every Tuesday at 10.30-11.30am and is for children aged 0 – 4.
