Building upon their recent activity delivering an action packed summer programme to young people living in the Calders, About Youth are delighted to announce that they will be continuing their work in the area through the provision of a weekly open access youth group.
The Calder Youth Group will run out of the Calder Community Flat, situated at the bottom of Dunsyre House, every Tuesday from 5pm to 7pm and provide local young people aged 11 to 17 (S1 to S6) with access to a space where they can safely meet with peers to relax, socialise and take part in activities.
Young people who take part will be able to play pool and other games, access wifi, listen to music and participate in PS4 competitions and movie nights while developing positive relationships with youth workers and learning about other local youth work opportunities.
About Youth are being supported to develop the Calder Youth Group via Generation Cashback: Grow, a new initiative, led by Youth Scotland, aimed at supporting establishing youth organisations to increase their project reach, activity base, operations and ability to benefit more young people.
The Calder Youth Group project has also kindly received the help and encouragement of the local Calder Residents Association who have actively supported About Youth in helping realise its commitment to directly responding to the needs of the young people in the Calders and helping create a space for them in the community.
