Broomhouse Centre Job Vacancies

The Broomhouse Centre has announced that they are currently looking to fill three vacancies, two development worker posts for their Cafe Training Project and one Care Assistant for the Beacon Club.

Care Assistant – Beacon Club

An exciting opportunity for a part-time care assistant has arisen at the Beacon Club. The club is based in the Balerno, Currie & Juniper Green area of Edinburgh each Wednesday and the Broomhouse area of Edinburgh for two further days.  The Beacon Club offers day care for older people who suffer from dementia and is funded by the Big Lottery.

We are looking for a highly motivated, qualified and dynamic person with a good understanding of older people with dementia and the issues they face. Experience of working with and being able to engage directly with older people is required.

The position we are offering is for 14 hours per week (2 days @ 7 hours each day). Wednesday will be in our Juniper Green venue and the other day (Monday or Thursday) will be at The Broomhouse Centre.

Salary is £8.45 per hour.

Chef and Learning Development Worker – Cafe Training Project

We are looking for an enthusiastic team player to become part of our dynamic Café Training Project. The Chef and Learning Development Worker  is a key member in our “Food Learning and Support Team” delivering the daily practical training and running of the café .

The position is for 25 hours per week. Monday-Friday 9.00 am – 2.30 pm (with unpaid 30 minute break).

Salary is £16,483 pro rata.

We have an exciting opening as a Cafe Learning and Development Worker which will provide you with the opportunity to work in a small friendly team that provides support to trainees in our very successful Cafe Training Project.

If you have experience and/or qualifications in the following, then we would love to hear from you!

  • Learning & development work with adults and/or young people
  • Good administrative skills
  • Experience in supporting clients with additional support needs

The position is for 24 hours per week.

Salary is £20,604 pro rata.
