Communal garden upgrade for Prospect Westburn residents

A communal garden is receiving an upgrade after Westburn resident Joan approached Prospect in the summer to ask if a bench could be installed in her back garden.

Joan was new to the stair and felt having a bench would be a nice spot for neighbours to be able to enjoy the sunshine when it was around and to get to know one another. Through the Neighbourhood Improvement budget Prospect were delighted to support this idea.

Prospect also put Joan and her neighbours in touch with the Westburn CAN project to see if they could help add some green touches to the space. They’ve been working with the residents to plan and create a new growing space that everyone who shares the garden will be able to enjoy. It’s probably a bit cold to be sitting out now but we look forward to seeing how all this develops in the spring!

If you are a Prospect tenant and have an idea that would benefit your neighbours or the wider community then please contact Gillian at Prospect’s office on 0131 458 5480.

Westburn CAN project meets twice a week on Mondays and Fridays 10.30AM- 2.30PM to work on the WHALE garden and other activities. There’s also the CAN- teen shared lunch every Friday at 1PM made using ingredients from the garden to which everyone is welcome. Contact info@whalearts.co.uk or call 0131 458 3267 for more details.
