Police and Local organisations team up for Operation Pumpkin

Police Scotland is teaming with Prospect Community Housing, Dunedin Canmore, the South West Neighbourhood Office and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to run Operation Pumpkin. A campaign to crack down on unsafe and antisocial behaviour on the run up to Guy Fawkes Night.

A Police Scotland Spokesperson said:

As we approach 5th November, the planning that has gone into Operation Pumpkin comes into full swing. An extensive amount of work has gone into what is a joint operation involving Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service and the City of Edinburgh Council amongst many others.

Communities should expect to see an increased presence amongst our partners, both locally and city wide. Sunday is a night to enjoy, but I would reassure everyone that any misuse of fireworks or linked anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated. Anyone involved in any culpable or reckless behaviour that endangers the safety of the public, or the partners who are working to ensure the evening can be enjoyed sensibly and safely, should expect to be arrested.
