Canal clean up with the Canal Volunteers

The Canal Volunteers will be holding a canal clean up on Saturday 27 January 2018, 10.00am – 1.00pm.

The group cleaning along the Union Canal towpath from Calder Crescent. They ask that volunteers wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather.

Volunteers play a vital role in the restoration and renaissance of Scotland’s canals, and our (Scottish Canals) joint campaign with Scottish Waterways Trust and The Lowland Canals Volunteer Group,  ‘Canal Volunteers‘ has recently been launched to encourage people to get involved in managing and looking after their canals in a sustainable and productive way which helps everyone.

If you have some spare time and would like to make friends, learn new skills and help ensure the nation’s biggest linear park continues to welcome millions of cyclists, walkers, boaters, kayakers and anglers each year, then why not become a Canal Volunteer!
