Do you love the Plaza?

Do You Love the Plaza? is the question being asked by the Wester Hailes Community Trust at an upcoming event taking place at Wester Hailes library on Wednesday 14 February 2018, 4.00pm – 6.00pm, as part of the Making Places Initiative.

Head along and share your ideas, hear from other local residents and help agree on what could make the Plaza into a real asset for the community. There’s no need to book, people are welcome to just drop in and share their ideas!

The event will be the first in a series of consultations taking place over the coming weeks. The WHCT will be working with several local partners including SCOREscotland, The Health Agency, Prospect Community Housing, WHALE Arts and Wester Hailes Community Council, with plans to drop in on their activities and groups to hear your views.

The consultation process will culminate in a several day long Charrette – a public workshop dedicated to using local opinions to create a Local Place Plan. Giving local people the opportunity to work with a community commissioned design team made up of professionals.

It is hoped that the completed Local Place plan will be involved in the creation of the South West Edinburgh Locality Improvement Plan and could address the concerns about safety, poor lighting and loose paving stones that have been raised by residents over the years. Leading to the creation of a true regenerated civic space to help mark Wester Hailes’ 50th birthday in 2019.
