Help shape the future of Westside Plaza

The Digital Sentinel want’s you to share your views on the current civic square, located at the front of Westside Plaza, as part of Wester Hailes Community Trust’s Making Places: Westside Plaza project.

We are asking everyone who has an opinion on Westside Plaza to complete the Scottish Government Place Standard tool using this link.  Your views will then be included in an ongoing community-led design process where local views will be used by Architects HarrisonStevens to create a Master Plan for the future of the space.

You can also give your views in person by visiting one of our drop in sessions taking place on:

  • Mondays, 12.00pm – 2.00pm at Clovenstone Community Centre
  • Wednesdays, 1.00pm – 3.00pm at WHALE Arts Centre
  • Thursdays, 10.30am – 12.30pm, 3rd May at WHALE Arts Centre and 10th May at Clovenstone Community Centre.

Wester Hailes Community Trust thinks that the Plaza has huge potential to become a welcoming civic space, a focal point for community activity and a catalyst for social, economic and creative regeneration. They applied to Scottish Government’s Making Places programme to enable a community led process to be started that will give the community a voice when decisions are being made about the current and future layout of the Plaza. This process kicked off on Wednesday 14 February 2018 at an event at Wester Hailes library which asked local people what they think of the current civic space and what changes they would like to see.
