Tasting Change Summer Activities

Tasting Change is a multi agency partnership that has been set up to tackle food insecurity and promote positive food and health opportunities in Wester Hailes. Here is a list of all the activities organised by the project this Summer.

We are What We Eat

Cooking Classes for Kids

Join Tasting Change at the WHEC for some healthy summer cooking every Thursday from, 11-1pm. This course will run from the 5th July until 23rd August (cooking session and lunch provision)

The Community Food Shop

Tasting Change and Edinburgh Community Food work in partnership to run two Community food shops in partnership at The Healthy Living Centre.

The community Food Shops offer subsidised organic veg, recipe packs and local produce at affordable prices and operate every Tuesday between 10am and 2pm and every Thursday between 10am and 2pm. We are also looking for local volunteers to help run the Community Food Shop.

CrEATe

We Create,
Every Tuesday between 11am and 1pm

Free art and food workshops, no experience of design necessary. Lunch is provided

Mum’s Group,
Every Friday between 2pm and 4pm

Chat, snacks and a space to talk about your creative ambitions.

Taste and Share

Taste and Share Family Cooking Sessions at Whale Arts

Come and join other local families and children to cook and share food from other countries

  • Saturday 11th August – 11am – 1pm
  • Saturday 8th September – 11am – 1pm
  • Saturday 13th October – 11am – 1pm
  • Saturday 10th November – 11am – 1pm
  • Saturday 8th December – 11am – 1pm

Weekly Women’s Group

Every Monday (From 16th July) @ Whale Arts Centre between 11am to 1pm

Learn to cook on a budget and share recipes from different countries whilst meeting local people and making new friends

Income Maximisation (Outreach Surgeries)

  • Every Wednesday at Clovenstone Community Centre (9am until 12pm)
  • Every Thursday at Whale Arts between 9am and 12pm
  • Every Friday at The Health Agency between 10am and 1pm

The Garden Kitchen and Summer Activity

The Garden Kitchen will be going on tour over the summer holidays popping up at the following events to provide free, healthy and yummy lunches for kids and adults. CrEATe will also be delivering creative, arty and fun activities for kids and adults.
