Family Fun at Clovenstone Playday

There was fun for everyone yesterday with organisations from across Edinburgh heading to Clovie to take part in the Clovenstone Playday as part of the UK Wide National Playday!

The event was attended by several local organisations with Dads Rock banging drums, WHALE Arts’ Street Arts doing some parkour, Tasting Change providing some tasty nibbles and a bit of gardening. Starcatchers’ Expecting Something group on hand with play for toddlers and babies and With Kids providing wet fun with water pistols and a paddling pool.

The event wasn’t all play though with other organisations holding information stalls including SCOREscotland,  Wester Hailes library, a visit from the Playtalkread bus, Edinburgh Council and others.

Playday is the national day for play, traditionally held on the first Wednesday in August.

It is the biggest play sector event in the UK, and possibly Europe. As well as a celebration of children’s right to play, Playday is a campaign that highlights the importance of play in children’s lives. Playday is coordinated by Play England, in partnership with Play Wales, Play Scotland and PlayBoard Northern Ireland.
