Harmeny Athletic Club, who currently help out at the Clovenstone Afterschool Club on Fridays, giving the kids a chance to do some exercise and try out something new, would like to introduce something for the adults in the community.

We support the delivery of the Wester Hailes Fun Run, and would like to offer to coach, or just help any adults who want to start to get fit, or start to train for the Fun Run. One morning a week (to be decided depending on demand), for about an hour, a coach from the club will be at Clovenstone and lead a session based around the Scottish Athletics ‘Couch to 5k’ plan. This’ll get you from any standard to fully prepared to run the 5k, and we can provide you with a full training plan for each week as you progress.

Email harmenyclubdev@gmail.com if you’re interested, or even just curious. There’s no requirement for any standard of running to get started, you’ll be aided by the coach and progression will be easy and assisted all the way. The intention is to gather at Clovenstone Community Centre once school runs and childcare issues are out of the way, most likely 9.30am or 10am on a Friday, but let me know below, or via email, what works best, and we’ll try and work round you, the runners. I’m happy to answer any queries or concerns you might have, don’t be concerned, why not give it a try!
