The team at Westside Plaza have been celebrating recently, after the Wester Hailes shopping centre brought home a gold and a bronze award at the Scottish Green Apple Awards.
In a highly competitive category, Environment Best Practice, Property & Estate Management, Westside Plaza was recognised for its outstanding efforts in the areas of Carbon Reduction, Energy Management and Water Management.
Centre Manager, Alex Limond, said that everyone in the centre was delighted to win the awards.
Reducing the environmental impact of the shopping centre is a key focus of ours. From the centre management through to the service and maintenance teams, retailers and our shoppers, this has been a real team effort and I’m thrilled our endeavours have been recognised with both gold and bronze awards.
Held annually by The Green Organisation, the Scottish Green Apple Environment Awards recognise, reward and promote the very best environmental practice around the world. More than 458,000 litres of water have been saved, along with 21 tonnes of Co2 and 60,693kWh of energy, the approximate energy consumption of 13 households every year.
