Wester Hailes Holy Trinity Church Food Bank

Wester Hailes Holy Trinity Church run a Food bank on Tuesdays, from the Bridge Community Cafe, from 2.00pm.

The Cafe is reserved at this time for clients who are welcomed with coffee / tea and cake whilst they have their personal details registered and receive their food parcels.

We have trained volunteers who come in and chat to the people who arrive, often stressed and with many issues in their lives which contribute to their need for help with food.

Sometimes people just want to come in for a coffee and a chat, such is the need and isolation of many in the community.

Our Foodbank is a short term support facility to help people as they pick themselves up from a wide range of difficult circumstances, often involving loss of income or short term loss of benefits. We provide food parcels for individuals and families normally on a fortnightly basis, over a period of up to 4 – 5 months.

The Foodbank is funded by donations from the congregation of Holy Trinity Church, and financial and food donations from local Churches in the west of Edinburgh, individuals, and several Trusts. People are referred from local agencies including the Social Work Department, CHAI (Community Help and Advice Initiative), local GPs the police, the local primary school, CAP (Christians Against Poverty).

For more information about the Food Bank or if you would like to help volunteer or make any donations contact Angie Thomson on 0131 442 3304.
