Prospect Community Housing: 15/04/20 Update

Prospect Community Housing have released the latest of their fortnightly updates keeping tenants informed of their services during the Lockdown.

Latest Updates
We have been contacting tenants we think are in self isolating categories to make sure they have the support they need. It has been very encouraging to hear about many incidences of help from neighbours, and we wanted to thank tenants who are making a real difference right where they live. We have also been very pleased to be able to work with Wester Hailes Together to provide essential support, using our vans to deliver meals, food parcels and emergency packs. Many thanks to the staff who have made this possible, and to all our staff for continuing to deliver the majority of our services. We recently updated everyone on why our landscaping and stair cleaning services are continuing and you can see this and other updates on our website. And we want to highlight the range of ways you can pay your rent which you will find on our Rent Advice page.

Stay Safe, Stay Home
We wanted to remind everyone that the social distancing rules remain in place and that they apply to everyone of all ages. If you are concerned about these regulations not being kept by others, you are advised to contact the police on 101 rather than contacting Prospect. We have no way of enforcing these rules but the police can follow up if they think it is necessary, and have now started issuing fines to people refusing to comply.

Public Holiday
Please note that Prospect will be closed for the day on Monday 20th April. For emergency out of hours repairs please call 0131 458 5480.

Benefits Advice
Many people are facing difficult financial circumstances at this time. Our Welfare Rights Service is still providing advice on benefits and debt issues. You can arrange a telephone appointment with Fiona McLuckie by calling 07908951297 or by emailing fiona.mcluckie@prospectch.org.uk

Activities
Organisations are sharing resources, activities and games online for children over the holiday period. WHALE are using the Digital Sentinel to share art activities such as Crazy Cacti. Scottish BookTrust are creating Book Bug sessions with links to songs and stories. And Love Gorgie Farm are live streaming “meet the animals” and farm activities! You can also find a resource activity pack full of online links on the Digital Sentinel.

Committee
Prospect’s Management Committee recently held a successful meeting via video conferencing. This enabled committee members to oversee governance and to make decisions at a time when they cannot meet in person.

Prospect have sent the contents of this update as an e-bulletin to their tenants who have an email address and are currently recieving their regular monthly Digi Mag.

If you are a Prospect tenant and you would like to recieve future e-bulletins, please email caroline.richards@prospectch.org.uk.
