The Children’s Little Book And Film Festival

WHALE Arts Creative Placemaking Project will be holding The Children’s Little Book and Film Festival this week from Monday 19 October 2020.

Stories From the Woods – Livestreamed storytelling at WHALE Arts Facebook page next Tuesday 20 October from 3.30pm – 4.30pm

1. Books related to woods…

Suggest texts for people to read aloud from. It can be anything woods related….. fiction, non fiction, childrens, adult, poetry ideas, foraging recipes, a woods related fact, riddles, recipes or jokes. 
So far suggested ….Tidy by Emily Gravett, The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson, Overstory by Richard Powers, Hansel and Gretal by The Brothers Grimm.

2. Join and read from the woods
Local people can volunteer in advance to read something aloud, from Westburn Woods and have it live streamed on Facebook. There will be a maximum of 5 people at any one time and we will keep socially distant. We can suggest texts to choose from, or people can find their own woods related things to read out loud. Booking essential.

There will be children’s stories as well as readings for grown up viewers of all ages, read by and suggested by local people. Tune in here.


WHALE will also be holding a special socially distanced film Screening titled – Films By and For Children on Thursday 22 October 2020. Head along and make a Video Portrait with your family. Booking is essential contact 0131 458 3267 or info@whalearts.co.uk.

The week will also see WHALE running fun and games on social media and the Launch of the Little Free Libraries.
