Creative Edinburgh Awards Shortlist

Creative Edinburgh has announced the shortlist for their 10th Creative Edinburgh Awards with several groups who meet or deliver activities in Wester Hailes being shortlisted.

The full shortlist is below but the Wester Hailes highlights include :

The Community Wellbeing Collective nominated for the Community Award – The Community Wellbeing Collective is a commission being carried out by Edinburgh Art Festival in partnership with WHALE Arts. They are a group of 28 people (and growing) living in and connected to Wester Hailes who run activities to support community wellbeing. They run a full programme of events and activities at the Community Wellbeing Space at Westside Plaza Shopping Centre. 

Theiyā Arts Dance Collective nominated for the Collaboration Award. Theiyā Arts Dance Collective is formed by a group of passionate artists based in Scotland who are dedicated to South Asian Dance forms. We share the love for dance and encourage each other in a positive and collaborative environment tackling important and relevant themes along the way. Theiyā Arts offers regular Indian Dance classes in Wester Hailes and does Summer Indian Dance workshops for young people.

Push The Boat Out nominated for the Edinburgh City Award. Push the Boat Out is a new festival for Scotland where a venn diagram of artforms come together, cross pollinate and collide: poetry, spoken word, live music, hip hop, songwriting, film, sound, gaming, visual art and concrete poetry. They have been offering creative writing workshops with a focus on wellbeing at WHALE Arts.

This will be the first awards ceremony to be held in person since the beginning of the COVID pandemic. The awards ceremony will be held on the 18 November 2022 at Summerhall. Tickets are available here.
