The Speech Language Communication Company hold Brick club – a social development programme to help help children and young people with Autism spectrum disorders and social communication difficulties, on Fridays 2.30pm – 4.00pm at Currie Bowling Club.
The group supports children and young people interact with one another to build Lego models and/or participate in other fun activities through which they can have the opportunity to develop their social skills such as turn taking, collaboration, focus and attention, eye contact and appropriate two-way social communication skills. As well as learning new skills, Brick Club offers a safe and friendly environment which supports children to make friends and improve their well-being. The Club is run on a weekly basis and is face to face. Parents and Guardians are invited to stay on the premises to mix with each other, away from the children, to facilitate a parental peer support group of their own.
