WHALE Arts are recruiting a Community Garden Coordinator who will run and maintain the WHALE Arts Community Garden and all horticulture-related activities and work with local community members and volunteers to support their ongoing development.

The post is fixed term to April 2025, working 14 hours per week with a salary of £24,500 Pro-rata.

Our Community Garden is closely linked with our community meal and volunteering activities at WHALE Arts. The Community Garden Coordinator will work closely with the Community Meal Chef and Volunteer Coordinator to ensure a joined-up and supportive approach to cooking, gardening and volunteering at WHALE Arts.

Main Duties

  • To maintain and develop the WHALE Arts Community Garden.
  • To lead in co-designing and developing a Community Kitchen Garden following a consultation process with local community members.
  • To support, instruct and work alongside volunteers/community members in gardening and horticulture-related activities.
  • To organise and oversee activities, events, and maintenance tasks related to the WHALE Arts garden.
  • To ensure health and safety procedures are followed during all gardening and horticulture-related activities.
  • To work closely with the Community Meal Chef and Volunteer Coordinator to integrate gardening, volunteering and community food-related activities at WHALE Arts.
  • To promote sustainability within the garden and related activities.
  • To work closely with local partner organisations.
