The Wester Hailes Community Trust has put the call out to anyone willing to donate items to help set up the new Mobility Hub in Westside Plaza.
The hub is a 40ft shipping container located at the green space in Westside Plaza Civic Square which the Trust has been working to transform into a community space that will offer free bike hires, free access to cargo bikes courtesy of the Cargo Bike Movement, tool hires via The Edinburgh Tool Library and South West Edinburgh 20 Minute Neighbourhoods, community maps and information, patio seating, free coffee and tea, and more. The Mobility Hub works towards delivering 15 of the 36 projects proposed by the Wester Hailes Local Place Plan which can be viewed on the Trust’s website.
They’re particularly looking for:
- Bike Accessories (helmets, locks, knee + elbow pads, bells, saddles, baskets, etc.)
- Tools for bike maintenance i.e. pumps
- Scooters + skateboards
- Footballs, rugby balls, badminton setc, etc.
- Bean bag chairs
- Patio seating + umbrellas
- Folding chalkboard signs
- Cork boards / notice boards
- Outdoor mats
- Coffee + tea
- Shelving/storage/bookcases
- Any other items that you think could be relevant.
If you have any of these items hanging around, and you’re no longer in need of them, please email us to arrange pick up. Any little bit helps, and will be put to great use in the community.
