The Edinburgh Integration Joint Board (EIJB) voted to reject proposals to immediately serve notice that they would be removing funding from charities in Edinburgh including the Dove Centre and The Health Agency.
The board voted on Friday 1 November 2024 to reject the proposals of pulling funding earlier than expected meaning the charities who receive the grants will continue to be funded until March 2025. Their was a concerted effort from third sector groups to oppose the cuts with over 60 people attending a protest outside and several deputations from the organisations that would be affected during the course of the meeting, including the Health Agency.
You can watch a recording of the full meeting on the Councils website here.
It is yet to be decided what will happen with the other recommendations including cancelling future rounds of grant funding going forward. In the meantime the Health Agency and other charities will continue to fight against future cuts. You can find out how to support them in their campaign on their website here.
