Local MP Scott Arthur and Councillor Stephen Jenkinson have launched a petition to try and oppose the proposed closure of Wester Hailes Post Office.
On November 13th, Post Office Limited announced plans to close 115 locations, putting around 1,000 jobs at risk. Wester Hailes Post Office, a vital community hub in one of Scotland’s most deprived communities, is among those threatened.
We expect a genuine consultation process involving those affected before any final decision is made.
The Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry has uncovered significant problems in the centre of the company, and people in Wester Hailes can’t be expected to pay the price for that.
