Police Scotland are recruiting a Public Enquiry and Support Assistant position based at Wester Hailes.
The post is full time working 35 hours per week with a salary of £28,296.
Job description:
Provide support to all members of the public and officers within the area as well as managing administrative functions within the station to ensure effective and efficient delivery of service to the community.

Key responsibilities
- To answer enquiries from the public personally and by telephone (which includes the
provision of advice to the public on basic aspects of the law and legal obligations, assessing
whether or not a crime has taken place and taking crime reports) or to direct enquiries to
relevant personnel or departments. - To create reports, update and interrogate a variety of computerised police information
systems to assist internal/external customers. - To undertake general clerical duties in relation to the effective running of the police station.
- To assist with the preparation of documents and general correspondence.
- To operate communications equipment as required.
- To receive/return lost/found property including dogs, processing the relevant paperwork and
to ensure the safekeeping, feeding and disposal of animals, birds or other creatures brought
in to the station - To escort visitors and issue visitor passes to workmen and other persons requiring access to
secure areas of the building. - To complete bail books for individuals instructed to report to the police station as part of their
bail conditions. Advise police officers of any failures. - To complete initial registration and change of circumstances in respect of individuals subject
to registration under the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act. - Complete initial registration of foreign nationals (where applicable), making any amendments
to existing certificates, collecting any associated fees, issuing receipts for same and
forwarding documentation on to the Overseas Register Office. Maintain register and report
failures of foreign nationals to sign in as required by any external agency. - To issue and receive completed Request for Access to Information forms and issue receipts
for fees and forward applications on to the Data Protection Teams, as per the PSoS Subject
Access SOP. - To receive and record monies and complete associated paperwork for payment of fines,
warrants, shotgun licences, firearms certificates and pedlars licences. - To accept surrendered firearms, completing the required paperwork, ensuring that firearms
are checked by an authorised firearms officer and lodged as productions in an appropriate
and safe manner, as per the PSoS Firearms SOP. - To serve and execute legal processes, such as citations and copy complaints.
- To record details of Road Traffic Accidents and raise necessary documents for officers to
continue enquiry. - To complete HO/RT2 forms on production of HO/RT1 paperwork from members of the
public, recording and filing same before onward transmission to issuing officers. Check
validity of relevant documentation in relation to vehicle seizure under Section 165 RTA,
authorise and issue release document as appropriate. - Where a CCTV system is part of the public counter function, make effective use of the
system by monitoring periodically or in response to incidents. - Provide support to operational incidents as required.
- Contribute to the Force’s requirements in relation to Health and Safety.
- Will be responsible for assessing and self-managing risk within all aspects of the role.
