The Friends of Hailes Quarry Park have received permission from Edinburgh Council to extend the play area to include an area for toddlers. To support this they will be holding a consultation on Friday 12 September 2025, 10.00am – 11.30am at the Kurdish Community Centre asking what sorts of play equipment items are most needed. They will have some pictures of items at the consultation but welcome people to give their own ideas.
We are also keen to hear more about people’s ideas for other items such as adventure play equipment for older children / teenagers. a zip-wire is something that’s been requested often, for example – and we’ve also had requests for more swings from teenage girls. Another thing we’d like to look at is how to incorporate living willow structures in the play area for the smaller children. But really we just want to hear all of your opinions and ideas on what’s needed – if there’s anything else you think would really make this play area work better, this is your chance to let us know
