SmART Craft, a local visual arts group, based at WHALE Arts, which supports adults has received funding from the Lloyds TSB foundation for Scotland as part of the Henry Duncan Awards.

The group, which meets weekly at the WHALE Arts Centre, gives adults with additional support and complex needs the opportunity to express their creative and artistic talents in the form of visual arts. Their artwork ranges from drawing and painting to creating pieces with textiles. Earlier in the year the group presented their work at the Gallery on the Corner in an exhibition titled “Creative Release”. The funding will be used to pay for the running costs of the group.

Meghan Bidwell, Creative Development Coordinator at WHALE Arts said:

We are delighted to receive funding from the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland. smART CRAFT is a unique project at WHALE Arts, which I am thrilled we can continue to deliver and develop.

The Henry Duncan Awards provide financial support to grassroots charities which works in Scotland’s communities to improve peoples’ lives.
