Jump 4 Cancer – dancing with a purpose

by Melissa Harrison, Forrester High School pupil

Aged 5-18? Come along and help raise money for cancer by doing something you might love and will keep you fit!Jump 4 cancer is a charity based dance group organised by Jonathon Fotheringham, a pupil at Forrester High School. There are currently 25 members as it has just passed our 4th anniversary. There is now an opening for new members.

The group started in 2010 when cancer hit home to a few children who are now members. We thought that we could take something that we all enjoy, like dancing, and turn it into a fundraising idea. Throughout the years we have done several bake sales, sponsored walks and car washed ect… In order to raise as much as we can but to top it all off we have an annual dance show where we perform several dances and host other events.
Over the 4 years we have had 3 annual shows, 3 fundraisers and 2 other smaller performances and raised a grand total of over £4700.
We train at Gate55 in Sighthill every Saturday 12-2. It is £1 to cover the cost of the hall.
Feel free to come along and join in.
