The first of a new series of social history walks took place last week.
The group met at the Health Agency and went for a short thirty minute walk around Wester Hailes. Everyone in the group enjoyed the pleasant scenery along the canal and learned about the history of Wester Hailes and the highs and lows since the first people moved in forty-five years ago. There was discussion around some of the current community projects going on in the area and talk of ideas for the future
The walk was just one of several planned routes which the group are looking forward to waking in the future. They would like to invite anyone interested to come along with them when these walks go ahead.
The group is looking for community members, who would be willing to contribute some local stories and information for the future walk guide, and walk leaders who would be willing take groups out around the local area. Training and support would be provided to anyone interested in becoming a walk leader. For more information please contact Fiona on Fional@whhealthagency.
