Wester Hailes Education Centre staff were joint winners In the Getting It Right For Every Child category at the recent Children and Family Achievement Awards when they tied with Tynecastle High School.
WHEC came joint first due to their “Cool, Calm and Connected” peer education programme which involved older pupils being trained to deliver sessions with younger pupils about positive mental health and emotional well-being.
The school was also highly commended in the Working Effectively with Others category for its Student monitoring group. The Student Monitoring Group programme was established to provide nearby primary schools with the additional support they required to help local communities meet the needs of local families.
