The council are issuing one-off Carer’s Support Payments to help people who provide substantial and regular unpaid care for a partner, friend or relative. The payment of £250 is meant to provide carers with the means to maintain their own health and well-being or might pay for a short break from caring, as well as a reward for their incredible work.
You can apply for the payment by contacting Social Care Direct on 01312002324. Young carers, anyone under 16 or still at school, can gain help with applying by contacting their guidance teacher or a young carers organisation.
