From the New Year the Edinburgh Evening News will be printed overnight and will be on the shelves much earlier than it is at present.
The industry website Hold the Front Page explains that the spokeswoman for Johnston Press which owns the paper has admitted that readers are increasingly looking to online news as their first port of call for up to date information.
