The Scottish Waterways Trust are recruiting for the final programme of Canal College. This is a great opportunity for anyone not in education, training or employment to work outdoors gaining new skills and experiences.

The final programme of Canal College will start on February 10 2015. The previous programmes have  been a great success with 57% of those who took part going into employment, paid training, volunteering and further education.

Those who volunteers will complete a 14 week course along the Union Canal. The course takes place on a Thursday and Friday. There are no tuition fees and travel expenses are paid.

Participants will spend most of their time along the canal learning about canal engineering, management and maintenance, landscaping, wildlife conservation, tree planting and vegetation management. Though the majority of work is outdoors there is also a small ammount of writing.
