Community Navigator, a new information-finding service for over 65s in South West Edinburgh, will launch  next week.

Health in Mind’s Community Navigator project, which is funded by the City of Edinburgh Council, aims to assist the over 65s.  The organisation breaks down jargon and shares information about support and activities available locally.

Emma Pattinson, who works with the project, says

“Between Monday 19th and Friday 23rd January everyone is invited to visit our information stalls to see the project in action. Browse the leaflets and posters on offer (either for yourself, or for a friend or relative) or ask a question of our friendly staff and volunteers.

“Why not make your new year’s resolution to try a new hobby? Maybe things have changed for you or your family recently. Whatever your situation, talk to us. We can help find some information that could be useful.”

The stalls are running at the following times:

Tuesday 20 January, Oxgangs Library 10.00 – 12.00
Tuesday 20 January, Currie Library 2.00 – 4.00
Thursday 22 Saltyard Café 2.30 – 4.00
Friday 23 Wester Hailes Library 2.00 – 4.00

Every visitor will get a copy of their free 20 page magazine Discover: South West to take away. Check out photos and updates on their Facebook page by searching for ‘Community Navigator’.

The group is looking for helpers for the regular stalls – if you are a friendly person who is interested in what’s going on in your community, please get in touch with Emma to find out more by email emma@health-in-mind.org.uk  or by telephone 0131 225 8508
