Murrayburn Primary’s Parent Council have started a justgiving appeal hoping to raise £10,000 to replace the Outdoor Classroom which was destroyed in a recent fire.
At the time of writing the appeal had raised 9% of the total required to replace the bus. The following information is taken from the justgiving web page:
As many of you are aware our outdoor classroom space (bus) was set alight early hours 26/3/15. The damage has been assessed and is irreparable. LRT have kindly agreed to remove the burnt out carcass of the bus. But it leaves our school children with no outdoor learning This malicious damage has taken away our children’s opportunity to engage in the various activities and experiences the bus has allowed them to enjoy.
The outdoor classroom bus was donated by Lothian buses June 2011 and was the first outdoor classroom of this type in Edinburgh. Murrayburn Parent Council and the school’s staff put huge amounts of work into the bus to make it a fantastic place to learn for all children in the school. The bus also went some way to supporting the school’s move to receiving their Green Flag award. The outdoor classroom provided an array of different education opportunities for all children at Murrayburn School.
