David Marshall and Thomas Lynch, the co-founders of Dads Rock have been shortlisted for the Evening News’ Local Hero Awards in the community champion category.
The Community Champion category aims to recognise people who have made a difference in communities and who are inspiring other people to do the same.
The winners will be selected by a panel of judges and will be announced at an awards ceremony on Friday, June 5 2015, in the Assembly Rooms in George Street. Winners for each category will be announced at the ceremony with the one group gaining the Local Hero award.
Dads Rock is a network of free playgroups for male carers and children. They run three playgroups, one in Wester Hailes, one in Granton and one in Glasgow, for children aged 0 – 5 years. Their Wester Hailes group meets on Mondays, 10.00am – 11.00am and Saturdays, 10.00am – 11.30am, at the WHALE Arts Centre.
We exist to help all dads be the best they can, to spend time with their children, have a fun, positive and rocking experience! Dads and their children get invaluable 1:1 time, have the chance to make new friends and chat about what it means to be dad!
