The ‘Our Place in Time’ exhibition at the Healthy Living Centre launched today as part of the Wester Hailes Community Connections festival.
The exhibition uses photos of Wester Hailes from the Sentinel archive, SCRAN, the Edinburgh Reporter, and RCAHMS to celebrate the community, create a timeline of the area showing the construction of the flats and their destruction, and contains photos of favourite events and locations such as the Fun Run and the Venchie.
There were speeches by local resident Eoghan Howard, one of the key organisers of the exhibition, and Sean Bell who is a key figure in the managing of the Healthy Living Centre. They thanked all of the people for making the exhibition possible including the Arts and Humanities Research Council, Connected Communities project, WHALE Arts, Prospect Community Housing, the Health Agency and Our Place in Time. The highlight of the launch was the vertical ribbon cutting by special guest Weronika Diaz-Banaszewska, who was rewarded with a lollipop!
Head along to the Healthy Living Centre now to see the full gallery. Here are some more photos of the launch showing some of the exhibition.
